For the first time in franchise history my beloved Detroit Tigers clinched the AL Central and showed everyone that the "mistake on the lake" (Cleveland) and the Sox are just a bunch of scrubs. I never seriously doubted the Tigers ability to win the Central this year because of V-Mart and that Verlander dude.
Martinez is the extra piece in the lineup that can protect Cabrera. He and Miggy have been on a tear all season with runners in scoring position. Cabrera and Martinez are hitting .397 and .383 respectively with RISP. So this almost guarantees a hit or run scored from one of these two every single game.
Verlander has been a nice piece as well you could say. I mean he's only 23-5 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Just give him the MVP already so I can stick it to Doug Glanville on ESPN about how only position players should be able to win it. Last time I checked, the MVP was given to the player/pitcher that was the MOST VALUABLE to his team throughout the year. How in the hell is JV not the most valuable player to his team this year? Going 21-2 since April 27th isn't good enough? Riddle me that, Doug.

Anyways, I'm very curious to see what these Tigers can do in the playoffs. I do believe they have what it takes to make it to the World Series, but the Red Sox are the only reason why I am hesitant about their chances of winning the pennant. It seems like they always lose to Boston, but hey this team has proven me wrong a few times already this year.
GO TIGERS
