Common "The Dreamer/The Believer" Album Review

The Dreamer/The Believer

TOP LYRICS
"I know your young and you gotta live your life ma
I thought it was the right time for me to wife ya
I must confess, I miss the days of you laying on my chest
So confusing losing love, I'm saying god bless
Who do it better, we used to move together
Now we not together, is this our new forever?"
"Lovin' I Lost"
"Daylight beams, night life schemes
This is my inception, I’m writing my dreams
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, see the Lord's coming through"
"Blue Sky"

"Had explicit experiences I shouldn't mention
For me, getting women turned from sport to addiction
Powerful women playing the roles of submission
Lawyers on leashes, congress, women inflictin"
"Ghetto Dreams"

In the meantime, while I'm waiting to feast with family on this splendid Christmas Day, I figure I would review Common's The Dreamer/The Believer which released 12/20 in stores. I waited until today to hear the whole CD (the physical copy), as it was one of my most anticipated albums of the year...
There's just something that makes listening to a CD on a CD player so much better and makes you appreciate it more than via digital download or what have you. Therefore I plugged in my headphones, popped the CD in my old Sony G-Protection CD player (hell yeah), and pushed play. The next hour or so I simply laid down and let Common's music inspire me.

No, I didn't "forget" to put my top songs from the album at the top, I purposely left that out because I can honestly say that every song on the album is a "must hear" song. Start the CD at Track 1 and let it play all the way through. There is no need to hit "next" on any of the songs. This album is a masterpiece, and doesn't let up once throughout the song sequence.

NO I.D. did his thing with the instrumentals on the CD. I will say my favorite beat might be from "Raw (How You Like It)". Other than that though, every song literally is good enough to listen to more than once. I'm not including the last song, "Pops Belief", because that is more of an outro track. Stop wasting your time and listen to one of the Top 5 Hip-Hop CDs this year. Purchase it on iTunes!

The Dreamer/The Believer = FIRE
