First off, happy birthday to the best rap artist alive and my favorite artist in general, Eminem aka Slim Shady aka Marshall Bruce Mathers aka Jimmy Smith aka B-Rabbit. The dude turned 39 today and shows no signs of releasing his choke-hold on the rap industry. "Kill the rumors it ain't happenin, cuz Ima rap til I'm fossil fuel". This was the last line in the Shady 2.0 Cypher from the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards and the latest reason why age isn't a factor for him.
Eminem has boosted the reputation of Detroit as a powerhouse for breeding rap artists. I don't think there is another artist from any genre of music in the past 10 years that has done so much for a single city and the music industry. With over 32 million albums sold during the past decade, which is the most by any artist, Eminem proves why he is the most influential artist of the century.
I am a firm believer everyone likes at least one Eminem song, and if not then I guess you are ignorant to real musical talent (sorry for not being sorry). No matter what level you connect on while listening to an Eminem song, it has moved you in one way or another. He truly pours his heart out into every song, and I think that's why we love him so much because he is REAL and speaks the truth. Hopefully he blesses us all with another masterpiece soon. "WHAT UP DETROIT? STAND UP!"
Here are my Top 10 all-time favorite songs from the 313 representer, Eminem:
- "Lose Yourself"
- "Not Afraid"
- "8 Mile"
- "Stan"
- "Sing for the Moment"
- "'Till I Collapse"
- "Space Bound"
- "The Real Slim Shady"
- "Love the Way You Lie"
- "Beautiful"
